Dubai Student Empowers Over 4,000 Underprivileged Learners in India through STEM Education Initiative

Ghaziabad, India — November 2025:
In an inspiring example of youth-led global impact, Dhruv Sharma, a student of Dubai College, Dubai, UAE, has successfully launched and expanded his social impact initiative, the UniAbilities Project, in collaboration with Maanavta Foundation, Uttar Pradesh, India. The project, started in August 2023, focuses on providing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education to underprivileged students from grades 6 to 12 across multiple districts in India.

Driven by his passion for inclusive education and technology, Dhruv developed a comprehensive curriculum for Mathematics, Science, and Coding, designed specifically for rural learners with limited access to digital education. He trained a network of 27 local trainers, equipping them with modern teaching methods, digital tools, and the confidence to deliver high-quality lessons. To ensure sustainability, he also conducts periodic Zoom mentoring sessions to monitor both teacher progress and student learning outcomes.

Over the past 27 months, UniAbilities has partnered with several local non-profit organizations to expand its reach.

  • In Ghaziabad District (Uttar Pradesh), three schools have joined the program, benefiting 1,300 students.
  • In Sitamarhi District (Bihar), Dhruv collaborated with the Human Aid Foundation, adding four more schools and reaching 1,150 students.
  • In Munger District, one school with 730 students joined the initiative.
  • In Muzaffarpur District, two schools now host the UniAbilities program, with 930 students enrolled.

Altogether, over 4,100 students across 10 schools in two Indian states are now learning critical STEM and digital literacy skills through Dhruv’s program.

To overcome infrastructural barriers, Dhruv raised funds to establish fully functional digital classrooms, providing computers, internet connectivity, projectors, and other essential equipment in all partner schools. These resources have transformed traditional classrooms into interactive learning hubs, fostering curiosity and creativity among students who previously lacked access to such opportunities.

“Education is the strongest tool for equality,” said Dhruv Sharma, founder of the UniAbilities Project. “My goal is to make quality STEM learning accessible to every child, regardless of where they are born. With every new school we connect, we move one step closer to reducing the digital and educational divide.”

The UniAbilities Project is closely aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

  • SDG 4: Quality Education — by ensuring inclusive and equitable access to quality STEM education.
  • SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure — by building local digital capacity through technology-enabled learning.
  • SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities — by empowering rural and underprivileged communities with future-ready skills.

Mr. Rajesh Gupta, Director of Maanavta Foundation, commended Dhruv’s leadership:

“Dhruv’s initiative has brought global best practices in STEM learning to our rural schools. His vision and consistency have created a real, measurable difference in the lives of thousands of students.”

Looking ahead, Dhruv plans to expand UniAbilities into more Indian states, introduce AI and Robotics learning modules, and establish a Digital Innovation Hub to continue supporting teachers and students remotely.
