In a significant step towards reimagining the future of management and holistic education in India, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Sambalpur has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sri Sri University (SSU), Cuttack. The partnership aims to promote innovation, entrepreneurship, and interdisciplinary research, integrating cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), data science, and sustainability with ethical and spiritual dimensions of learning.
The MoU was signed in the presence of IIM Sambalpur Director Prof. Mahadeo Jaiswal and Sri Sri University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rajita Kulkarni, marking a collaboration that bridges academic rigor with holistic development โ a cornerstone of Indiaโs evolving higher-education landscape.
A Convergence of Technology and Ethics
Under the agreement, the two institutions will co-develop joint research projects, leadership programs, and executive education modules that blend the analytical and technological strengths of IIM Sambalpur with the value-based and experiential learning ethos of Sri Sri University.
โIn a world driven by algorithms and automation, the real need is to produce leaders who combine intelligence with integrity, and innovation with empathy,โ said Prof. Jaiswal. โThis collaboration will shape a new model of management education โ one that integrates AI and data-driven decision-making with the spiritual quotient (SQ) necessary for ethical leadership.โ
Prof. Kulkarni echoed the sentiment, adding that the partnership would foster a human-centered approach to management and entrepreneurship. โWe aim to co-create platforms for sustainable innovation, mindful leadership, and socially responsible business practices โ preparing students not just for the economy, but for humanity,โ she said.
Focus Areas of Collaboration
The partnership envisions multiple avenues for cooperation, including:
- Joint research and innovation labs on AI, data analytics, sustainability, and behavioral sciences.
- Exchange of faculty, scholars, and students to promote cross-institutional learning.
- Collaborative conferences, policy dialogues, and workshops on ethical leadership, spirituality in management, and technology for social good.
- Entrepreneurship incubation support for startups that integrate technology and social innovation.
A Step Toward Future-Ready, Value-Based Education
The MoU aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which encourages multidisciplinary collaboration and holistic education. Both institutions emphasized the importance of balancing technological competence with moral consciousness, particularly in the era of AI-led disruption.
Experts see this partnership as part of a larger shift within Indian higher education โ from traditional academic silos toward collaborative ecosystems that connect business, technology, and philosophy.
