Raipur, 4 November 2025 – The Indian Air Force’s Suryakiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT) will take to the skies over Atal Nagar (Naya Raipur) on November 4 and 5, performing a series of precision aerial manoeuvres to mark 25 years of Chhattisgarh’s statehood.
The dazzling two-day air show, themed “Veer Chhattisgarh @ 25”, will feature the Suryakiran team’s nine Hawk aircraft painting the Raipur skyline in saffron, white and green smoke trails, symbolizing India’s national flag. The event is part of a larger state-wide celebration recognizing the state’s achievements in education, industry, and rural development since its formation in 2000.
Event Schedule and Highlights
The aerial displays will be held at Swami Vivekananda Airport and the adjacent Atal Path viewing zone, with multiple fly-past formations including “Diamond,” “Arrowhead,” “Loop,” and “Roll On Take-Off.” The team will also perform synchronized spins and mirror formations at speeds exceeding 500 km/h.
Spectators can expect to witness an array of performances by other IAF units, including a helicopter slithering demonstration and air-to-ground coordination exercises. The event will be open to the public, with the state government coordinating free shuttle transport from Raipur city to the venue.
Messages from Leaders
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai described the show as a “symbol of Chhattisgarh’s courage and progress,” while IAF officials emphasized the air show’s role in inspiring youth to join the armed forces. “Through Suryakiran, we demonstrate not just aerial skill but the discipline, teamwork, and precision that define the Indian Air Force,” said Group Captain K. Pratap, commanding officer of the team.
Security and Logistics
Over 400 security personnel and disaster-management teams have been deployed to manage the crowd and ensure safety compliance. The Civil Aviation Department has issued temporary restrictions on non-participating flights during the display windows.
Public Response
Residents of Raipur and nearby districts have expressed excitement ahead of the event. “It’s the first time we’re seeing such an air show in our region. It makes us feel proud of the Air Force and our state,” said a local student volunteer. Schools and colleges have been invited to attend in coordinated batches to promote aerospace awareness among youth.
