Jaipur, 4 November 2025 – At least 12 people were killed and several others injured in a devastating road accident on Sikar Road in Jaipur late Monday night. The collision, which occurred near the Harmada area, involved a truck, a private bus, and two cars, resulting in a fiery crash that left the vehicles mangled and traffic halted for hours.
According to police reports, the accident took place around 11:40 PM when a speeding truck lost control and rammed into a stationary bus picking up passengers. The impact triggered a chain reaction, crushing nearby vehicles and injuring dozens of commuters. Eyewitnesses described the scene as “chaotic and horrifying,” with locals rushing to pull victims from the wreckage before emergency teams arrived.
Rescue and Relief Operations
Firefighters and ambulances were immediately dispatched to the site. The injured were rushed to SMS Hospital and Kanwatia Hospital, where several are reportedly in critical condition. Authorities used cranes to clear the debris, reopening the highway to traffic early Tuesday morning.
Jaipur Police Commissioner Biju George Joseph confirmed that preliminary investigations point to over-speeding and brake failure as possible causes. “We have filed a case under sections of reckless driving and culpable homicide not amounting to murder. The truck driver has been detained,” he said.
Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma expressed grief over the tragedy, announcing an ex-gratia compensation of ₹5 lakh each for the families of the deceased and ₹1 lakh for the injured. “The loss of innocent lives is heartbreaking. The government stands with the affected families, and we will ensure strict action against negligent drivers,” he stated in an official release.
Eyewitness Accounts
Local resident Suresh Sharma, one of the first responders, said,
“People were screaming for help. We managed to rescue several passengers before the fire spread. It was a terrifying sight.”
