New Delhi, 4 November 2025 – Former Miss India and Bollywood actress Celina Jaitly has made an emotional public appeal seeking justice for her brother, Major Vikrant Jaitly (Retd), who has reportedly been detained in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) since September 2024. The appeal came after a recent Delhi High Court hearing regarding his prolonged detention, which has drawn growing attention on social media and among veterans’ groups.
In a heartfelt post shared on Instagram and X (formerly Twitter), Celina wrote,
“You fought for our nation with honor, Bhai. We are fighting for your freedom now. Justice will prevail.”
The actress also shared a childhood photograph with her brother, adding hashtags like #JusticeForMajorVikrant and #IndianVeteransAbroad, which soon began trending online.
Case Background
According to legal sources, Major Vikrant Jaitly, who previously served in the Indian Army’s engineering corps, was working with a private security firm in Dubai when he was detained over a contractual dispute involving foreign clients. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has confirmed that it is in contact with UAE authorities and the Indian embassy in Abu Dhabi is providing consular assistance.
An MEA spokesperson stated,
“We are aware of the case involving an Indian national and former defence officer. The government is extending all possible support to ensure due legal process and his early release.”
Public and Veteran Support
Several veteran organizations, including the Ex-Servicemen Welfare Association, have rallied behind the family, urging the Indian government to take diplomatic measures. A public petition calling for intervention has gathered over 50,000 signatures within 48 hours.
Social media users praised Celina Jaitly for her courage in speaking out. Fellow actress and activist Dia Mirza commented, “Your strength and faith inspire so many. Hoping for his safe return soon.”
The case shines a light on the challenges faced by Indian expatriates and veterans working abroad, often caught in complex legal systems. Celina Jaitly’s emotional plea serves as a reminder of the human stories behind international labor disputes — and the power of public advocacy in seeking justice beyond borders.
