UP Board Goes Digital: Evaluators to Upload Marks Online for 2026 Exams

In a major step towards examination reform and transparency, the Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) has announced that evaluators will directly upload marks online for the 2026 board examinations. The move eliminates the long-standing system of manual “award blanks,” marking a shift toward digital evaluation and real-time data management.

The new system will be introduced across all evaluation centres in the state for both Class 10 and Class 12 examinations. According to officials, this transition aims to reduce human error, speed up result compilation, and enhance accountability during the marking process.

A Step Toward Transparency and Efficiency

Under the updated protocol, examiners will be given secure digital access to upload student marks directly into the UP Board’s evaluation portal. Each entry will be time-stamped and verified electronically, ensuring that discrepancies or overwriting are virtually impossible.

“Digitisation of mark entry is a long-awaited reform. It will save weeks of administrative work and ensure results are processed with greater accuracy,” said a senior UP Board official.

The Board has begun training workshops for evaluators and centre supervisors to familiarise them with the new digital system, which will be supported by district-level technical teams.

Reducing Delays and Data Loss

Previously, evaluators entered marks manually in printed “award blanks,” which were then physically compiled at regional offices before being digitised. This multi-stage process often led to data mismatches, delays, and document loss.

The new system introduces:

  • Direct digital data entry from evaluation centres
  • Automated total calculation and validation checks
  • Instant flagging of discrepancies or missing data
  • Cloud-based storage for secure record management

Wider Digitisation Drive in Education

The digital mark-upload initiative forms part of Uttar Pradesh’s broader education technology and e-governance strategy, which includes online teacher attendance, e-assessments, and student progress tracking through the Prerna Portal.

Officials said the change is also aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which promotes the use of digital tools for efficiency and transparency in academic governance.

What’s Next

Pilot implementation will begin with select districts during the pre-board exams in early 2026, before a full rollout for the final examinations. The UPMSP is also exploring integration of AI-based analytics to monitor evaluation speed, detect anomalies, and ensure fair grading practices in the future.
