Indian students are emerging as global frontrunners in adopting AI-powered learning, with over 2 million students now using Google Gemini’s AI-tutoring feature, according to recent data shared by the tech company. The trend underscores India’s growing enthusiasm for technology-integrated education and personalized learning tools.
The Gemini AI tutor, launched globally earlier this year, provides students with real-time academic assistance, including problem-solving, conceptual explanations, and adaptive practice sessions across subjects such as science, mathematics, and languages. The platform’s integration with Google Classroom and YouTube Learning has further enhanced its reach among school and college students.
India’s early adoption reflects the country’s expanding digital learning ecosystem, supported by affordable internet access, increasing smartphone penetration, and policy focus on AI and EdTech under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
“The surge in AI tutor use among Indian students signals a transformative shift — from rote learning to interactive, self-paced education,” said an education technology expert.
Teachers and institutions are also beginning to integrate Gemini-based tutoring into blended learning environments, helping bridge academic gaps and offer personalized support. Analysts note that such AI tools could soon play a vital role in reducing learning disparities across regions and socioeconomic backgrounds.
