Schools across Punjab have begun implementing a 15-day ethics-education module to commemorate the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur, focusing on moral values, tolerance, and human rights. The initiative, coordinated by the Punjab School Education Department, aims to help students connect with the Guru’s teachings and their relevance in today’s social context.

According to The Times of India, the module includes activities such as classroom discussions, storytelling, debates, art projects, and community service drives centred around Guru Tegh Bahadur’s message of sacrifice, unity, and compassion. Special assemblies and essay-writing competitions are also being held to encourage reflection on the values of courage and freedom of conscience.

Education officials stated that the program is intended not only as a historical commemoration but also as a values-based learning initiative, integrating ethical education into daily classroom practices. The module will later be evaluated for inclusion in the broader moral and civic education framework in Punjab schools.

Teachers have welcomed the move, calling it a timely reminder of ethical leadership and inclusivity—qualities deeply embedded in the Guru’s philosophy and essential for shaping responsible citizens.
