Schools Reopen Across Gujarat After 21-Day Diwali Break; Colleges to Resume Tomorrow

Ahmedabad | November 6, 2025

After a festive hiatus, classrooms across Gujarat came alive again as over 54,000 government, grant-in-aid, and private secondary and higher secondary schools reopened on November 6 following a 21-day Diwali vacation that lasted from October 16 to November 5.

Students returned to schools amid cheerful scenes, with teachers welcoming them back for the second academic term, which will run from November 6, 2025, to May 3, 2026. School authorities have been instructed to resume academic activities smoothly and ensure completion of the syllabus before the upcoming final examinations.

Colleges and universities across the state are scheduled to reopen on November 7, marking the start of the second term for higher education institutions as well.

Education officials said the extended Diwali break provided much-needed rest for students and staff, especially after the completion of mid-term assessments. The focus for the next term will be on board exam preparations and practical training sessions.

With schools back in session, the Gujarat Education Department has also urged institutions to emphasize attendance, academic continuity, and co-curricular engagement as students transition back to classroom routines.
