The University of Kent has introduced the India Women in Leadership Scholarship, a new award designed to support high-achieving female students from India who wish to pursue postgraduate study in the UK. The scholarship offers a 50 percent reduction in tuition fees for one year of full-time study, aiming to promote women’s participation in leadership and management roles across sectors.
According to the university’s official scholarship announcement, the initiative is open exclusively to female students domiciled in India who are applying for taught Master’s programmes at the University of Kent. Applicants must hold either a conditional or unconditional offer before submitting their scholarship application.
The university explains that the programme “recognises the increasing importance of women’s leadership in India and across the world” and forms part of its wider strategy to expand access and diversity in global higher education. Further information about Kent’s commitment to women’s empowerment is also highlighted through its Women in Leadership Scholarship campaign.
As part of this year’s International Women’s Day 2025 initiatives, the University confirmed that five scholarships would be offered under this scheme, covering half of tuition fees for each successful applicant.
Education experts say the initiative aligns with a broader trend among UK universities to strengthen academic and cultural partnerships with India — particularly through financial aid, exchange programmes, and digital collaboration. With the UK emerging as a top destination for Indian women pursuing postgraduate degrees, Kent’s new scholarship reflects a sustained commitment to equality and leadership development.
Eligible students can find details on entry requirements, deadlines, and the application process directly through the University of Kent’s scholarship portal.
